The fascination that this country exerts, with its mixture of races, creeds and customs; Its landscapes, its temples, palaces, forts, its dreamlike places, the hospitality of its people... make it something unique, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. A trip to India becomes an absolutely unique and unforgettable experience. But be careful, my traveler friend, if you visit India you run the risk of wanting to return to it forever.

Capital of India since 1911, the urban core of Delhi also includes the place that was capital during the successive kingdoms and empires prior to British colonization: Old Delhi. Both cities are located in the State of Delhi, in an area located west of the Yamuna River - one of the tributaries of the Ganges - and are part of one of the largest metropolitan areas on the planet.

Day 2

Delhi

  • Full day sightseeing tour of Old Delhi and New Delhi including a Rickshaw ride
  • Optional: Lunch and Dinner at the local restaurant

We will also visit Raj Ghat, the Mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi, erected in 1963 in the place where Gandhi lived from 1917 to 1930. It was built by Charles Correa in tribute to Gandhi, to disseminate his ideas, his letters, his photographs and other documents that They mark the trajectory of the search for freedom. Enjoy a fascinating Rickshaw ride “Man-Pulled Cart” in Chandni Chowk to see its typical markets and bazaars. We will also take a panoramic tour of the Red Fort.

In the afternoon we will visit the modern part of Delhi. The tour begins on the wide avenue where the parliament is located, surrounded by large gardens and several administrative buildings; At one end is the Puerta de la India, a triumphal arch that commemorates the First World War; in the other Rashtrapati Bhawan, wonderful structure and official residence of the President of India. The architecture is a mix between Indian and European styles, with a strong syncretism between elements of the Mughal empire and Buddhist and Hindu art. We will also visit the Qutub Minar, a five-story victory tower. This monument looms over the historic site where Qutbuddin Aibak laid the foundation of the Delhi Sultanate. In 1193 he built the Mosque of Quwwat-ul-islam (Power of Islam) and the Qutub Minar to announce the advent of the Muslim sultans.

We will also visit the Sikh temple (Gurudwara Bangla Sahib), one of the main and most important temples of the Sikh religion. Everyone is welcome at this temple, regardless of age, religion or social status. The Sikh religion is the ninth largest religion in the world and its main motto is to see God in each of us. Hence equality is above all. Perhaps these dogmas of faith explain the hospitality with which the temple staff receives hundreds of people daily. What may draw the most attention about this generosity is the offering of a humble meal to all the pilgrims who, for one reason or another, have decided to come to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

Built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, in honor of Salim Chishti, famous Sufi saint of the Chishti order. It was the Mughal capital for 14 years. Beautiful example of a Mughal walled city, with well-differentiated public and private areas and imposing gates. Its architecture, a fusion of Hindu and Islamic styles, reflects Akbar's secular vision and his way of ruling. The main buildings of the imperial palace complex, packed into a series of terraces, formed the core of the city. The concentric terraces clearly divide the public spaces from the private royal quarters. It was abandoned due to its inability to provide it with a water supply.

Continue the trip to Agra “known as ''The City of the Taj'' and seat of the Mughal court during the 16th and 17th centuries, before the capital moved to Delhi.
